DPF CLEANING FOR Autocar ACMD Xpert, ACTT XSpotter, ACX Xpeditor

Autocar Truck

The DPF is usually cleaned by two methods when installed on the vehicle:

  • Passive Regeneration - a process that uses the high heat generated in the exhaust system. The exhaust heat removes carbon build-up from the filter, turning it into ash.
  • Active Regeneration – a process that injects additional hydrocarbons into the exhaust stream, creating a chemical reaction that raises the gas temperature.

Autocar has determined that some low speed, high density routes may not induce adequate cleaning cycles or regeneration of the DPF. If the vehicle is continuously operated below 20mph, an active regeneration cycle may not be initiated, resulting in insufficient cleaning and leading in soot plugging or clogging the DPF.
