Diesel Particulate Filters are emission devices installed on engines manufactured since 2007. DPF’s are expensive parts that can cost from $2,300 to $8,000. Failure to service your DPF can cause DPF failure (that will require replacement), down time and lower fuel economy. Most engine manufacturers recommend removing the DPF for cleaning at 250,000 miles, but research and testing has found out that ash begins to harden on the filter cells as early as 150,000 miles. Once the ash hardens, it can cause permanent cracking and damage.

From all aspects, it is obvious that DPF is a good thing, but for many Isuzu drivers, it has become a potential expense. However, no one would ever give the advice to replace a clogged DPF, because a new one would cost a lot of money. Thus, it is most expected that every clogged DPF should be taken to a professional cleaner for servicing.

A new Isuzu DPF costs approximately $7,000 and this would be an unnecessary expense. Sometimes an Isuzu DPF cleaning can cost $500 or even less and after the process, you will not be able to make a difference between your old, cleaned DPF and a brand new one.
