DPF CLEANING FOR VW, MAN, and Scania

VW Truck

MAN trucks are equipped with a Diesel Particulate Filter in the exhaust system, which may need some self-cleaning or regeneration during the vehicle’s normal operation. Regeneration can occur both by automatic or manual intervention. If any regeneration is necessary, the truck’s On Board Diagnostic will inform the driver through a number of warning lamps on the dashboard.

As a DPF will gradually become more restricted and more clogged up as an ordinary part of its service life, a process named ‘regeneration’ is specifically designed to occasionally clear the particulate filter. Unfortunately, the process required specific driving conditions and when these are not met, the degree through which the filter is blocked can overwhelm the engine’s ability to regenerate the filter. This can lead to problems with power loss, lower fuel consumption or reduced throttle response.

The best solution when you experience a blocked DPF is to clean it and to do this properly, the DPF needs to be removed. And as a blocked DPF is normally caused by another underlying issue, it would be worth to also undertake further diagnostics to find the cause of the problem.

MAN and SCANIA trucks generally operate at sufficient load and speed for the DPF to self regenerate. However, over time, the DPF will accumulate ash and this will need removing in order to maintain the expected fuel economy. Our DPF cleaning services will effectively clean the filter and restore it to its original condition.
